My first job out of high school was working for Nordic Track while going to night school for electronics. The further I got into my schooling, the more I had a feel for what working in that field would be like, and it just wasn’t happening for me.

A day came when I moved into sales and despite being able to make a very lucrative income, the day also came when I quickly realized that tricking people into buying things they don’t want or need wasn’t really who I was or wanted to be either.

Starting My First Home Business

It became clear that I was much more like many of my extended family members who were entrepreneurs of different sorts. I took an interest in their independent lifestyles. Although what they did required allot of hard work, I just knew being an entrepreneur was what I wanted to be.

I joined my first network marketing business in 1994. Bought the lead stickers, cassette tapes, mailers, postage, and spent thousands mailing them out. Then waited. Yep, got a few calls. Most of them wanted to know who I was and how I got their address.

OK. So that was a bad idea. Next. Time went on, and I was taught and did a multitude of other things such as talking to friends, family, printing fliers, dropping “drop cards” and dragging people to meetings. This ended up not really working all that well.

Over the years I had had some success which was like baiting the hook so to speak. Companies went out of business, comp. plans changed for the worse, not the better, but every now and again there would be a success.

Learning Internet Marketing Changed The Game

In 2007 I began to learn various aspects of internet marketing and how it can be applied to network marketing. I found that there are more methods and techniques to building an online business that I could ever count.

At first I spent allot of time running around in circles spending thousands of dollars on various marketing courses and e-books. (I cannot stress enough how important getting educated is, and please know that your education never ends).

As the weeks and months rolled by, I kept on “keeping on”, learning and applying what I learned. I was able to generate my own leads, and sign up more new people into my network marketing business than I ever had before. I also was earning (and still am) a nice chunk of change marketing various affiliate and niche products.

Around the middle of 2009 I had started taking and interest in building niche sites and marketing funnels. This is something I really enjoy doing and will continue to do for a long time.

I still have the “network marketing bug” for those nice residual checks and for this reason in November of 2009 I decided to spend a little more of my time sharing a few simple things anyone can do to increase their success. Hint: A good work ethic is the most important.

My Advice To Anyone Who Is New Or Just Stuck

It really is mindset. When I first heard that word thrown around I thought I knew what it meant. Now I really do know. I had the wrong attitude for my goals and I wasn’t aiming high enough.

Yea, I was working from home FT, making money, paying the bills. One day I realized I was sitting in my comfort zone and not excelling. I knew I could quadruple or quintuple my income and far beyond that by taking it up a few notches.

It was clear what needed to be done. I left my comfort zone, learned some new killer techniques, started applying them, and everything changed. All it took was just that extra little bit of knowledge and effort with a little personal guidance.

So if there is one thing I’d like to convey to as many people as possible, if just as a reminder, it’s this: Mediocrity purveys your comfort zone. You must learn to stay out of it. Living out side of it makes life more fulfilling, exciting, and in the entrepreneurs case, much more profitable.
