Hang on to your seat because I’m going to keep things simple and show you why e-mail marketing for network marketers is vastly different than e-mail marketing to niche markets, and make it very easy for you to NOT have to worry about creating a whole series of 10 to 20 e-mails to your prospects.
Why? Because I remember how much I dreaded having to sit down and try to write a dozen e-mails to load into an auto-responder. And I am convinced that most people who purchase an auto-responder feel the same way. Not only that, but people are no longer very appreciative of getting a slew of sales pitches in their inbox.
For Starters….
For a moment, think about how different niche marketing is from network marketing. A quick refresher: Niche marketing is just selling products to faceless nameless buyers who are ready to buy.
Network marketing is much more personal and its where you build trust and work closely with your team, and in many cases become friends with those you work with.
We never want to confuse how you would treat a niche prospect who, in most cases, is ready to buy, and will likely purchase other related products in the same niche, to someone who is looking for the right person to work with in a network marketing opportunity.
So Here Is The Easy Part (We love easy!)
Write just one e-mail for your auto-responder. Yep, just one. Make it a welcome e-mail containing:
- Your contact info in a nice signature file
- A short paragraph about you that has “read more…” and a direct link going to your “About Me” page on your blog
That’s it! But There’s A Rub And It’s Really Ironic
First, your prospect is totally scratching their head. I mean, they were half-expecting that you were going to try and sell them a bill of goods. They were also expecting to see a long drawn out e-mail that they would just delete.
Second, YOU completely have set yourself apart from all the other e-mails in their inbox and they will very likely open future e-mails from you.
What we are trying to do is treat your prospects as if they were sitting right in front of you and you had the intention of helping them out, not trying to sell sell sell.
Use your auto-responder to inform your network-marketing prospect, not sell them. Inform them of a new blog post you’ve written. Let them poke around your blog and see the products you recommend. Have your own personal reviews on the products you are recommending.
You see what’s happened here? We have completely removed any pitching in our e-mails. We do want them to get opened, right? We do want our prospects to visit our blog and get to know us better, and see what we’re about.
If you do want to recommend and sell affiliate products to your network marketing prospect list, create a blog post around why you recommend the product then send the post to your list. Remember, first paragraph with a link leading to your post on the blog.
One More Important Point
Do consider creating a separate e-mail list that your prospects can opt-in to that would contain a series of trainings. Perhaps a series of articles you have written yourself, or a series of audios or videos.
Finally, once a prospect joins your opportunity, have them opt-in to an “update” list in which you would e-mail Team updates and trainings, etc.
My strong hunch is that if you have been involved with a network marketing opportunity, you appreciated it when you had a leader in your upline that kept everyone informed. Best of all, YOU can be that leader.
