Facebook lead generation is not only a great strategy for your business, but it can also be as frustrating as trying to paddle a canoe into the wind. Done improperly, it can also get your profile yanked without notice.
One of the biggest and most common mistakes people who are new to Facebook lead generation make is sounding like a sales person. As if that’s not enough, they sometimes will also pimp the “latest, greatest opportunity”.
A word of caution”: If you want to develop Facebook lead generation, don’t sell products, pay plans, opportunities, and please don’t hype anything. Here’s why:
Recently I accepted a friend invitation on Facebook. The first message I received from this person was “New Company Just Launched! Join Now! Big $$$ Will Be Made Here”.
The real kicker is this person just kept sending these types of messages, and I had to unfriend them. No doubt their profile was or will soon be deleted.
It is against Facebook policies to pitch business on personal profile pages. You can however, create “Fan” pages and talk business on those fan pages without any concern-at least at the time of this posting.
The secret to developing a decent Facebook leads generation strategy that can be duplicated in pretty much all of the social networks is quit simple. Be yourself, and provide useful information.
Most important of all, don’t wait until you feel like you’re an expert at something. Share what you learned on the last webinar, conference call, info product, blog post, etc that you learned from.
Share what you’ve learned in your own words via video, blog posts, a Facebook page, whatever your comfortable with. Then post the link to it on Facebook and don’t forget to tweet it on twitter.
The people who are most successful at Facebook lead generation share their knowledge as well as interact with others who also share. It’s always about two-way conversation and not one-way pitching.
Facebook Lead Generation Points:
- Upload a decent photo of yourself
- Fill out the info below your photo-add your blog url
- Be thorough when filling out your “Info” page-let people find out more about you without having to “hunt” for it
- Join a few groups you will be interested in and upon joining, state to the community why you joined
- Send friend requests to those who interest you, but NEVER send too many at once, or you might find your profile deleted
- Participate in the groups you have joined. Add your “2 cents” to some of the topics that are brought up
- Try to update your status at least once every day or two, and if possible, more often than that
- Socialize with others in your News Feed

- Give “Kudos” to other peoples posted work
- Share your own work-blog posts, videos, etc
- Don’t pitch. Rather, just share and the right people will be attracted to you
- Make sure to include your blog link in all your social profiles
- If you are building an e-mail list, have a way for those who are interested in receiving more info from you to opt-in to your newsletter or training e-mails. ie. Have your marketing funnel set up.
- Read Facebook Policy and Procedures concerning business activities in order to remain in compliance
Over time using Facebook will seem like second nature and it will actually become part of your day. By being yourself and interacting with others without pitching your deal, you will inevitably attract people to you.

Charles ,I love this post.I wrote a blog post similar to this, but you took it a step further and broke it down to its core. It's sad that newbies and sometimes offline marketers taking their business online with social sites such as Facebook are spamming the community. Some don't know any better others do it on purpose.I usually delete friends if their first comments are “you have to check this out” “Stop struggling in Network Marketing ,read this ebook” the list goes on and on.
This blog provides tons of value, will be back….

Interesting post and well-written as usual. For most agencies relying on mass media, this assumes that they have control on various http://www.myeasypayment.com aspects of the marketing mix. A creative agency may not 'get their way' in strategy or the right creative expression. Or no say at all on media planning & buying
It’s also a great way to gain targeted leads using a social network we all have grown to love.
